Tap the Clot is an educational medical arcade game. This policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, and your rights regarding that data.
It covers the app on both Apple App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android). Where the two versions differ, the platform is marked iOS or ANDROID.
Summary
| iOS | Android | |
|---|---|---|
| Account or sign-in required | No | No |
| Personal information collected | None | None |
| Game progress stored | On device | On device |
| Advertising | Yes — Google AdMob | Yes — Google AdMob |

Information we collect
Tap the Clot does not require an account and does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or location.
- Game progress and scores — stored locally on your device (UserDefaults on iOS, SharedPreferences on Android). This includes high scores, unlocked content, in-game currency balances, streaks and settings. It is not transmitted to us and we cannot access it.
- iOS Advertising identifier (IDFA) — if you grant permission via the App Tracking Transparency prompt, your IDFA may be used by Google AdMob to serve personalised ads. If you decline, non-personalised ads are shown instead.
- ANDROID Advertising ID (AAID) — Google AdMob may access your device's Android Advertising ID to serve and measure ads. You can reset or delete it at any time in your device settings (see "Advertising" below).
- Data collected by the Google Mobile Ads SDK — to serve ads, measure them and prevent fraud, Google's SDK automatically collects and shares: your device's IP address (which may be used to estimate general location), app interaction data (app launches, taps, video views), diagnostic information (app performance, launch time, energy usage), and device identifiers (advertising ID, app set ID). All of it is encrypted in transit using TLS. This is collected and processed by Google, not by us — see Google's Privacy Policy.
Device backup
ANDROID If you have Google Backup enabled in your device settings, Android may include this app's locally stored game progress in your device backup to your own Google Drive. This is a function of the Android operating system, controlled by you in your device settings — the data goes to your own Google account, not to us, and we have no access to it.
iOS Equivalent behaviour applies if you use iCloud device backup.
How we use your information
- Game scores and progress are used solely to provide gameplay features (high scores, achievements, daily challenges, progression).
- Advertising data is used by Google AdMob to display ads within the app, on both platforms.
- We do not sell your personal data to third parties, and we do not use your data for any purpose unrelated to running the game.
Advertising
Both the iOS and Android versions of Tap the Clot use Google AdMob to display advertisements — full-screen ads between games, and optional "watch an ad for a reward" ads that you choose to view. AdMob may collect and process data as described in Google's privacy policies. We never see or store this data ourselves.
You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time via:
- iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → disable for Tap the Clot
- ANDROID Settings → Google → Ads → Delete advertising ID (or Opt out of Ads Personalisation)
- Google Ad Settings
For more information see AdMob's data collection practices.
App Tracking Transparency
iOS On iOS 14 and above, we ask for your permission before accessing your device's advertising identifier. You may allow or deny this request. Denying tracking does not affect gameplay — you will simply see non-personalised ads.
ANDROID Android has no equivalent prompt. Ad personalisation is instead controlled by you through your Google account and device settings, as described above.
Children's privacy
Tap the Clot is suitable for a general audience and carries an age rating of 4+ on the App Store and the equivalent IARC rating on Google Play. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app contains no chat, no user-generated content, no social features, and no mechanism by which any user could submit personal information.
Medical disclaimer
Tap the Clot is an educational game intended to illustrate concepts in cardiovascular and neurological medicine in a simplified, stylised form. Medical facts, drug names, and procedures depicted in the game are simplified for entertainment and educational purposes and are not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
This app is not a medical device. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition, and it must not be used to guide real clinical decisions or as clinical training. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical guidance.
Data retention and deletion
All game data (scores, achievements, currencies, settings) is stored locally on your device. You can delete all of it at any time by uninstalling the app, or by clearing the app's storage in your device settings. We hold no copy of it on any server, so there is nothing for us to retain or delete on your behalf.
Third-party services
- Google AdMob — advertising (iOS and Android)
- iOS Apple Game Center — leaderboards and achievements, where you have signed in to Game Center at the operating-system level
- Capacitor by Ionic — open-source native app framework (no data collection)
Neither version integrates any third-party analytics or user-profiling SDK beyond the advertising described above.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under the UK GDPR, EU GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, or similar laws — including rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, and to object to processing.
Because we operate no servers and collect no personal data ourselves, we hold nothing to disclose, correct, or erase. All of your game data already sits solely on your device and is entirely within your control. For ad-related data, requests should be directed to Google as the controller/processor of that data. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted at this URL with an updated date at the top. Material changes affecting how data is collected will be reflected here before the relevant app release ships.
